Eco School journey- March 2022

School council meeting- Monday March 28th 2022

Today school council met with a new focus for the summer term.

After a busy few months raising money for Children in Need, Comic Relief and the Ukraine crisis, the children have now turned their thoughts to the school environment.

One of our aims at the start of the year was to become an Eco friendly school.

This week, Mrs Mammatt will be taking part in an online conference on Wednesday evening to find out how we can make our school greener.

The children have been set the challenge to research the Devon website ZONE (reduce reuse recycle) as well as the national 'Eco-schools' site which enables schools, through a series of steps, to earn a 'Green Flag' award.

We are very excited about this new project with lots of ideas on how to raise awareness in school, such as an assembly planned by school council.

We aim to reduce plastic waste in our packed lunches and to turn our food waste into compost.

We are also committed to the challenge of reducing our energy consumption such as electricity and water.

We are very much looking forward to embarking on this journey of becoming a greener school.
